What a Wonderful Window in Ireland

A window opened over Estonian, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese and Turkish schools

This is the window where / The voices of our childhood meet

This is the window where / A kingdom of tenderness and tolerance begins

And together, holding hands, / We build

An alfabeth of peace and hope. (Domingos Santos)

Pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday is the day before Lent. In Ireland, everyone eats pancakes on that day. They are made of flour, milk and sugar and are fried on a pan on top of the cooker.
In Oristown pupils have no homework on Pancake Tuesday.

St. Brigid's Day

In Ireland we Celebrate St. Brigid's Day on 1st February. St. Brigid is one of the three patron saints of Ireland.

The children make a St. Brigid's Cross. The Cross is made from rushes. The rushes are woven together to make a cross like the one in the picture.

It brings good luck when it is hung in the family home or in the sheds with the animals.
